This guide focuses on core points for beginners to get started quickly, covering three key dimensions: initial preparation, resource management, and driving exploration, helping to efficiently start your long-distance driving adventure.
I. Initial Preparation: Lay a Solid Foundation for Survival
At the start, first enter the left side of the garage, press E to pick up the basket, and collect all food (croissants and sausages on the bedroom table, bread on the kitchen stove) and water to avoid hunger and thirst in the early stage. Don't forget to take the BB gun and ammunition, binoculars, and oil barrel—these are key items for dealing with NPC threats and searching for resources. For settings, it is recommended to enable the "+ whole interior" physics lock in Settings→Misc to prevent in-car items from falling and improve game stability. Prioritize front-engine or rear-engine vehicle models and avoid two-stroke engines (poor performance, no radiator, and unrepairable/non-upgradable).
II. Resource Management: Core of Fuel and Supplies
Fuel is the lifeline of long-distance driving. Prioritize searching cargo ships (concentrated fuel points), roadside vehicles, and building containers; some bus fuel tanks may also contain gasoline. A siphon hose can be used to extract fuel from other vehicles, but you must first confirm the fuel type to avoid damaging the engine with the wrong fuel. For vehicle maintenance, front-engine/rear-engine models need regular refills of engine oil, water, and fuel: add oil to the engine, water to the radiator, and fuel to the fuel tank (the fuel tank of front-engine vehicles is on the right side of the rear, and that of rear-engine vehicles is on the right side of the front). Never add water to the fuel tank, as it will drastically reduce engine performance.
III. Driving & Exploration: Balance Safety and Efficiency
Prioritize driving along the main road, which is marked by telephone poles on the right and extends westward (towards the sunset direction). If lost, you can find the main road using the "northwest-southwest double-distance search method". Turn on the high beam (H key) at night and watch out for road stones; IFA trucks equipped with truck tires can easily cross medium-sized stones. When encountering roadside buildings, you can stop to explore—there is a high probability of obtaining supplies, but be wary of randomly spawning aggressive NPCs and counterattack with the BB gun in time. In Free Mode, prioritize completing tasks such as speeding through gates and reaching checkpoints within the time limit to earn rewards; in Level Mode, strictly obey traffic rules to avoid fines. Use binoculars to look far away for resource points throughout the journey to improve exploration efficiency and ensure a smoother long-distance trip.
